You can pay tolls in New Jersey using toll tags or cash. There is video tolling [1] system as well which clicks a photo of your license plate when you cross a plaza and sends an invoice to the vehicle owner.

Please remember that not all payment options are available at every location. The toll rates in New Jersey also differs for different payment methods. Using toll tags costs the least.

In the event you enter a toll lane that is not equipped with E-ZPass or transponder-reader, you will be required to pay the full undiscounted toll in cash.
