Type of Tolling Systems
In Europe, tolls are levied using three types of tolling systems:
- Vignette - charged depending on how long you will be using the roads. For more information on what is a vignette, click this link
- Distance-based tolling System - Toll rates are calculated based on the number of kilometers traveled. To know more about how distance-based tolling works, click this link
- Open and Closed system - Every time you pass through the toll booth or gantry, you pay a fixed toll rate.
